We have done food tours all over Europe and I can say without reservation that this food and history tour was the best ever! Combining the history with wonderful food and beer was the highlight of our 16 day trip in Europe. We were 3 couples and booked a private tour with Dov and we ate some great Lebanese food after a coffee and strudel stop. Then we had a beer for our walk to sample the street food. We also played a game of table tennis in the park, all the while getting interesting information on Berlin and it’s history. Another stop was to have the best pastrami Rueben we might have ever had. Of course we had a cinnamon bun at a very famous bakery and then a cold beer to end a wonderful day. We were able to see many different neighborhoods, the wall and many other sights without ever feeling rushed. Dov is Australian so his English was great. Don’t pass up this tour. And to top it all off he gave us really good restaurant recommendations for the rest of our time in Berlin that were spot on!
My 2 friends and I were delighted to have a tour of just us with Violeta. Not only did we have the most delicious food, Happies were our favorite, Violeta was so knowledgable about everythign Berlin and taught us so much along the walk. This was definitely the highlight of our trip to Berlin and recommend to anyone!
We LOVED it! Anastasia was so interesting, friendly, and approachable. We enjoyed trying the different foods and going to places that we would have never gone. We saw the ‘real’ Berlin and some interesting sights. Our favourite part of the trip.
Michelle picked us up at our hotel, bringing treats and finding out what we really wanted to see and do before we left. What a journey we were on. Taught us the train system, the areas we were in, the art on the ground, the meaning behind the small brass plaques. Nothing was too much trouble. We were promised the best coffee in Berlin, and boy did she deliver. Cinnamon buns, a reuben – that did indeed rival New York’s version – yes Dov you were correct, Coconut water, more coffee, and an amazing florist and homewares shops – yes Michelle I know you will understand – we did go back to them all. The amazing conclusion to an incredible day finishing at happi. What a gem!!! Taste sensation. A wonderful first day in Berlin. Michelle went above and beyond, and was a true delight. So knowledgable, kind and giving and simply brillant to be around. We highly recommend this wonderful company. Could not fault a thing!!! Thank you!
With a group of 7 (all family) we did the 4,5 hour food tour with our guide Violetta. She was super nice and could tell us a lot of the area. We tried a lot of different food and drinks, and also saw a lot of the fun burrough Kreuzberg. Violetta also showed us a lot of the graffiti art works. We visited places we would normally not find or try on our own. Had so much fun taking our beers on the U-bahn!! Would highly recommend this tour if you want a unique Berlin experience!
We had a great time on our tour with Dov. He was knowledgeable and passionate and we felt the tour had been curated just for the 5 of us. The food was delicious and plentiful and special mention must be made of the bagels, they were magnificent. We barely noticed the inclement weather and found the Berlin history as enriching as the food.
We arranged to have a customized tour to take into account our family’s tastes and interests and Dov, founder of Fork and Walk and our guide for the day, delivered! We went to food places and local sights that we’d never have found by ourselves. You had to be a true local to know they were there, and more to the point know which of the many street stalls and restaurants were the extraordinary ones. Our two girls, 8 and 11, had as good a time as we did. We all learned a huge amount of the history of Berlin while stopping frequently to try various local foods. Nothing was too much trouble. Dov was very knowledgeable, highly engaging, funny and very kid friendly. One of the best tours we have ever done and highly recommended. This was an amazing introduction to Berlin for us as we had never been before and now can see the charm and diversity that the city has to share.
Fantastic time on this tour taking in some of the lesser-known Berlin sights and some gastronomic fare. We were a group of 8 (four couples) and our guide Ann was first class… well informed on Berlin’s history, very friendly, and not at all put out by our slow pace (sorry!). The cafe/restaurant choices (Bakery/Syrian/German Cheese & Wine) were outstanding. Would highly recommend Fork and Walk and will definitely try another tour from the varied selection next time we visit. Thank you!
We were a large group (13+) who had booked Dov for an evening activity. We didn’t want to just have a weekend of pure boozing and wanted a little culture. Dov delivered in spades. We were able to get plenty of culture, some great food (at a great price) and learn some really interesting facts. Berlin can be fairly pretentious (and very expensive) for large groups and actually by going on Dov’s tour we were able to keep costs down and also get some great food. I would highly recommend the tour.
