Berlin Halloween With the Locals

Inspiration from the locals on how to enjoy a Berlin Halloween whether you’re a child or an adult

Halloween approaches…

Witches, ghosts, zombies and other creatures of magic and mystery prepare for a night of spooky fun in the world of the living.

Why not spend it in Berlin, the world centre of night clubs, great parties and good vibes.

Read on to find out where children can have their fun in the early hours of the evening, and where the adults will gather in the depths of the cold autumn night to party with those creatures of mystery and magic.

 

Ideas for kids during a Berlin Halloween:

 

1. Pumpkin carving!

All of the supermarkets (Kaiser’s, Lidl, Aldi, etc.) and fresh produce stores are selling pumpkins, perfect to make your own jack-o-lanterns in Berlin. Here’s a link on how to make them, and it also shows what foods you can make with the insides of the pumpkin that you carve out, so nothing is wasted!

2. Mask-making!

Head out to a craft store and pick up some coloured paper, pencils, scissors and string. Draw an outline of a face sized circle, or something like a wolf face if you’re a creative parent, then cut out.
Be sure to cut out eye holes and mouth holes, then two tiny holes on the sides just below eye level and tie a short string to each one. This will hold the mask in place.

 

Botanischer Garten and Botanischen Museum hold kids Halloween day on the 30th of October, 2016. This involves horror stories for children, craft, drawing, painting, playing, pumpkin dishes and candy! This begins at 11 am:

Now for the adults! – Ideas and locations for a great Berlin Halloween

Firstly costumes: get cheap and creative costumes at the second-hand stores like Humana in Alexanderplatz. Make your own costume from things you find hidden away in there. Interested in exploring this area a little more with a local? Try our newest tour here!

With some places doing selections at the doors, you can be sure on Berlin Halloween themed nights, you are likely to be turned away if not in costume! If you’re not into costumes, there will be places that let you in, but be warned!
